rainy days
a welcome respite
rain arrives and the world stops asking or maybe I stop listening the lists in hand blur then fade deadlines lose their sharpness the birds sing, they know hunkering down in the rain soaked shrubs while the dry earth drinks deeply so do i sinking into newly created space letting go of plans feeling held by something that asks nothing of me except to pause and notice the slow tapping of rain against the window the scent of earth returning to its richness while life continues without any urging or doing the rain knows what i forget not everything works when pushed some need only a Sunday and the grace to be left alone while the day falls around us like rain

Beautiful! I grew up on a farm, so rain always feels like an answered prayer.
I adore rainy days. You describe them so beautifully, Susan. They offer an invitation to slow down, pause, and observe nature feeling quenched. Us too! 🌧️💙
